In an astounding turn of events, yet another Democrat lawmaker has jumped ship, abandoning their party to join the Republican ranks. That’s right, folks – Louisiana State Representative Jeremy LaCombe has made the switch, making him the third Democrat in just a month to cross over to the GOP. While it ain’t clear why LaCombe made the move, one thing’s for sure: the Democrats are in some deep trouble.
Let me tell you, this ain’t looking good for the Democrats in Louisiana. Despite holding the governor’s office, they’re losing their grip on power left and right. Just last month, LaCombe’s colleague, State Representative Francis Thompson, hopped on the GOP train as well, handing the Republicans a rock-solid, veto-proof supermajority in the state’s legislature.
Now that the Republican-led legislature in Baton Rouge is back in session, LaCombe’s switcheroo highlights the cracks forming within the Democratic Party. Sure, House Democratic Caucus Chair Sam Jenkins claims that LaCombe still shares “the same values” as the Democratic caucus, but actions speak louder than words, don’t they?
Not too long ago, State Representative Tricia Cotham also traded in her Democratic badge for a shiny new GOP one, giving the North Carolina House a supermajority. Unlike LaCombe’s hush-hush move, Cotham’s switch was front and center, with her blasting the Democratic Party for sidelining moderates and anyone who strays from their far-left ideals. As Cotham put it, “If you don’t do exactly what the Democrats want you to do, they will try to bully you. They will try to cast you aside.”
This recent wave of Democrats jumping ship is like music to our conservative ears. It shows that more and more folks are fed up with the Democratic Party’s extreme direction and are starting to see the light of the GOP’s down-to-earth policies. As conservatives, it’s our chance to show these new recruits what we’re made of and welcome them with open arms.

These party flips are like a giant neon sign for the Democratic Party, telling them they need to get their act together if they want to keep their remaining moderate politicians. But let’s be honest, it’s also a testament to the irresistible charm of the conservative movement and the progress we’re making in today’s political landscape.

With Democrats switching sides like it’s going out of style, we’ve got a golden opportunity to make a real difference.
