Senator John Fetterman is ill.
It was clear from the start that the Pennsylvania Democrat was being propped up to win in November despite major deficits from a stroke before the primary in May.
Democrats simply desired a seat in the United States Senate that they could control. It’s akin to putting a fading old politician — now an octogenarian — in the White House.
Senator Fetterman, who was newly elected, checked himself into Washington’s Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in February for treatment of serious depression.
According to Walter Reed officials, he was discharged on March 31 with his depression “in remission,” and he returned to Capitol Hill on Monday.
He responded to rumors that he had a body double in a tweet on Tuesday.

Many people on social media came to this conclusion after seeing a photo of a completely different Fetterman last month.

In actuality, the shot was taken in May 2022, after he had been released from the hospital following his stroke.
Fetterman took to Twitter to mock the situation.
“During my time during the hospital, the fringy fringies really came up with a conspiracy that I have a body double,” the senator said in a video as screenshots of tweets about his “body double” appeared.
“And I just want you to know that is just crazy. That’s not true! And I –”
Fetterman is interrupted in the video by a low-tech trick photography-based image of an alter-Fetterman entering the room, while Grover Washington, Jr.’s song “Just the Two of Us” plays in the background.

To be fair, it was a poor attempt at humor, and it was quite strange.
But it isn’t even the worst of it.
Fetterman presided over a hearing of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee’s subcommittee on food and nutrition, specialty crops, organics, and research on Wednesday.
Even though he was reading from a prepared statement, his hesitant, often scarcely audible opening words were agonizing
The man is in poor health.

I am happy he is alive and (within reason) well.

But it’s all very sad.
Of course, there is sympathy for Fetterman as he recovers from his stroke, and President Joe Biden, like many others his age, appears to be unable to prevent mental degeneration.
While these men bear some of the blame for allowing their ambition to propel them to positions they appear incapable of keeping, most of the blame falls on the cynical enablers who put them there.
A seat in the United States Senate and the office of the President of the United States are solemn trusts to be held by people of integrity and respect who recognize stewardship. These are not personal dukedoms reserved for individuals’ egos or the machinations of a corrupt political party.
Fetterman and Biden are embarrassments, not because of their personal medical or mental health difficulties, but because of what they symbolize to the nation.
