President Joe Biden launched his re-election campaign for 2024 in true Joe Biden form on Tuesday, inventing a story about his grandfather’s death from thin air.
This one was very nasty in terms of Biden and tall claims.
Biden’s relationship with the truth may be defined as tenuous, to put it mildly. Others could describe his trademark blending of fact and fantasy as a habit.
From his academic qualifications to his struggle with a local scourge known as “Corn Pop” when he was a young lifeguard in Delaware, the country’s 46th president has lied about everything.
At this point, whether Biden is suffering from cognitive impairment is irrelevant to his troubles with telling the truth, which is regrettable.

Americans expect their leaders to be truthful and transparent. Unfortunately, Biden not only lies to the people about his work performance on a regular basis, but he also lies about his past on a frequent basis.
The president resembles a real-life “Forrest Gump,” except that his stories about historical facts and his proximity or effect on them are figments of his own wild imagination.
Naturally, in his first public appearance after threatening the country with a second term, Biden lied about his grandfather’s death and injected himself into the fray.
The president told a story about his own roots to labor union leaders at the Washington Hilton in D.C.
Biden boasted about the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, claiming it would create “tens of thousands of good-paying jobs.”
He then tried to personalize the subject by bringing up his grandfather.
“Think about it this way: My grandpop, who I never met — he died in the same hospital I was born in two weeks before I was born,” the president said.
“But my grandpop was from — as they say in Maryland — from Balmer,” Biden continued, pronouncing “Baltimore” using the local accent. “And he worked for the American Oil Company. And his job was to open up new gas stations around the country back in the late — of the ’20s and ’30s.”
There was one problem with Biden’s announcement about his grandfather’s death, and a new generation of Bidens began only weeks later in the same building:

The Media Research Center tweeted a fact check on the president’s assertion, calling it “Pants on Fire” and labeling it incorrect.

The National Desk of Sinclair Broadcast Group did the same, pointing to an obituary for Mr. Joseph H. Biden, a former manager at American Oil who died at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore on September 27, 1941. He was President Obama’s paternal grandfather.
Meanwhile, Biden was born on November 20, the following year, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a city he frequently mentions when attempting to relate to people who have actually worked in their lives.
Biden’s own biography on the White House website states, “Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the first of four children of Catherine Eugenia Finnegan Biden and Joseph Robinette Biden, Sr.”
According to the New York Post, Biden’s maternal grandpa, Ambrose Joseph Finnegan, died at the same Scranton hospital where he was born in 1957, while Biden was a teenager.

This specific hoax was easily debunked, and thanks to those who did it swiftly. Will the rest of the media, however, ever hold the country’s fabulist-in-chief accountable?
We can’t bank on that if the last five decades are any indication of what’s to come in the run-up to the 2024 election.
Since winning the 2020 South Carolina primary, Biden has gotten protection from the establishment media, even protection from himself and his own lies.
Fake news isn’t necessarily about bending the truth or distorting coverage to fit a narrative.
Falsehood-spreading outlets are frequently guilty of blatant exclusions of essential facts or of neglecting material that could hurt storylines they have carefully chosen to propagate.
If Americans had reliable news media, Biden would be called to account for his newest falsehood.
Instead, he will be given even greater protection.
This is why so few Americans trust the corporate media — and how the country ended up with a mediocre senator with character issues in the White House in the first place.
