The FBI’s Christopher Wray has made an effort to obstruct Congress’ inquiry into the criminality of the Biden family by withholding a crucial document outlining a sizable financial transaction. However, House Republicans have set a deadline and won’t let Wray dodge turning in the paperwork.
Wray must submit the data by the end of May, otherwise, the oversight Committee will start holding him in contempt.
Wray appears to have forgotten that the American people are ultimately his clients. And the American people support eliminating government corruption, even if doing so jeopardizes a purported “investigation,” which was Wray’s justification for not complying.
Wray attempted to sidestep the question by saying it would compromise an FBI investigation.
‘The FBI’s mission is to protect the American people. Releasing confidential source information could potentially jeopardize investigations and put lives at risk. The FBI remains committed to cooperating with Congress’s oversight requests on this matter and others as we always have.”
Director Wray received a tweet from House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer informing him that the committee would pursue contempt of Congress charges if he continued to refuse. Comer outlines the issue by stating that a whistleblower informed the committee that the FBI is in possession of an FD-1023 form that shows Biden was allegedly involved in a criminal scheme during his Vice Presidency that involved the exchange of $5 million for a decision with a foreign official.
Wray is currently disobeying a congressional subpoena for the paper, according to Comer.

Rep. James Comer’s letter to Chris Wray includes a timetable that demonstrates the FBI has had more than enough time to abide by the subpoena for Congressional records. Comer referred to the FBI’s refusal to comply as “obstructionist” and their delay strategy as “unreasonable.”
The first deadline for the FBI to deliver the materials was May 10. On May 15, the oversight committee met with the FBI, but the records were still not turned over. Comer and Senator Grassley attempted to call Wray on May 16 but were unsuccessful. Comer mentioned that the Director had not yet set up a meeting to go over the documents in his (above) letter dated May 24.
In a meeting with the Committee counsel on May 22, FBI personnel admitted that they were aware of the documents that the Committee was demanding while simultaneously denying that they existed.
Comer referred to the FBI’s strategies as “gamesmanship,” stating that the bureau was seeking to imply that the committee was asking the bureau to identify its human source associated with the papers when, in fact, what it was asking for was the actual documents.
Comer’s letter said, “The committee is not seeking the identity of the CHS (confidential human source) who provided the information to the FBI.” He continued, “The agency has made no attempts to engage in a reasonable accommodation process.”

The FBI also mentioned that there were many similar documents with Joe Biden’s name attached. Comer called this information “new” and “alarming” but said that their solicitation would remain limited to their original request in an attempt to be “precise” about which documents they were seeking.
Comer ended his letter telling Wray the documents were due on May 30th.
“If the FD1023 form is not produced by that date, the committee will issue contempt of Congress proceedings.”
In closing, he reminded Wray that the Oversight Committee has the broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
