Every so often, a story comes to light that renews our belief in the efficacy of love and serves as a reminder that God is always at work, leading the “coincidences” that alter people’s lives.
One such tale is the one of Zoey, a newborn child who, thanks to her birth mother’s selfless deed, found her way into the warm arms of a firefighter and his wife.
A firefighter working an overnight shift in Ocala, Florida, was reportedly awakened by an alert at 2 a.m. in January, according to TODAY.com.
In a Safe Haven Baby Box, a device created to provide a safe and anonymous option for surrendering a newborn, he found a healthy infant girl wrapped in a pink blanket after responding to the sound.
“She had a little bottle with her and she was just chilling,” the firefighter, who wished to remain anonymous, told TODAY.com in the article published Thursday. “I picked her up and held her. We locked eyes, and that was it. I’ve loved her ever since that moment.”
It comes out that the firefighter’s wife had unsuccessfully tried to conceive a child for ten years. They were registered to adopt in Florida and had successfully finished all required courses.
“All we needed was a child,” the firefighter said.
“I didn’t call my wife right away because I didn’t want to wake her up, but I knew she’d be on board,” the firefighter said. Instead, he went to the hospital to inquire about adopting the girl.
The firefighter was concerned the note would be misplaced and they would lose the kid when he left the infant at the hospital with a message outlining the circumstances and his intention to adopt the child.
After eagerly awaiting news, he and his delighted wife received their desired outcome.
On January 4, they sent Zoey home with them, and she joined their family formally in April.

Since it was installed in 2020, Zoey was the first infant to be placed in the Ocala Fire Rescue Safe Haven Baby Box, which is the only one of its kind in Florida.
According to People magazine, Safe Haven founder Monica Kelsey expressed her happiness and faith in the future of the abandoned infant while appearing at a news conference in January. She also emphasized the significance of Safe Haven infant Boxes.
Addressing the mother who had legally surrendered her baby, Kelsey said, “Thank you. Thank you for keeping your child safe. Thank you for bringing your child to a place that you knew was going to take care of this child. And thank you for doing what you felt was best.”

As communities in the United States come to understand the importance of these life-saving measures, the momentum keeps growing.
There are already 148 active Safe Haven Baby Boxes; according to People, at least 32 infants have already been saved.
The fact that every unplanned pregnancy involves two lives is something that pro-abortion supporters consistently avoid discussing.
And even though it’s frequently a terrible and tough choice, living must be the only choice.
Zoey’s mother chose to preserve her daughter’s life by giving her up for adoption after giving birth, and she also unexpectedly gave happiness to a family she had never met.
She made sure Zoey was safe by using the Safe Haven Baby Box, and by doing so, she started a spectacular series of occasions that would alter people’s lives for good.
The account of Zoey, about a beloved young girl and the family who longed for her, has the intangible imprints of divine intervention and disproves the myth that legalizing abortion will result in the birth of undesired children.
After waiting ten years to become parents, Zoey’s adoptive parents decided to show their love for her birth mother by sharing this tale in the hopes that she may read it and realize how safe and loved her child is.
Families are created in a variety of ways.
In the case of Zoey and her firefighter, it took ten years of planning, a woman who had the courage to carry her child to term, a neighborhood that was concerned enough to install a box for babies who needed help, and a little bit of divine timing to make sure that the firefighter who was looking for a child was on duty the night Zoey was placed in the box.
As the firefighter said, “The way I found her… This was God helping us out.”
