Seriously, like I HOW?
Not even remotely joking, HOW?
The St. Louis Cardinals were trailing the Miami Marlins by one run in the top of the ninth inning on Wednesday, but the Cardinals came back to win thanks to a two-run home run from rookie Jordan Walker.
That joy, however, was short-lived and utterly lost following a dreadful fielding error by the closing pitcher Jordan Hicks in the bottom of the inning. Furthermore, it wasn’t just terrible to look at; it cost St. Louis the game, which they lost 10-9 at home to the Fish at loanDepot Park.
Miami put runners on first and second with one out prior to Joey Wendle’s at-bat. Hicks then faced Wendle with a 1-2 count and delivered a 101 mph fastball, which Wendle tapped in front of the Cardinals pitcher. Garrett Hampson and Yuli Guriel were both sprinting on the pitch, so Hicks could only make a play at first base to get the second out.
However, Hicks tosses the ball high over first baseman Paul Goldschmidt’s head in a “what on earth?” fashion that has left me utterly speechless as I type this.
The ball then goes into the right field.
Guriel and Hampson seized the opportunity to run to one other’s punches in a run and give the Marlins the ludicrously crazy victory.

When I first saw this, I was completely floored.
As I indicated earlier, I was and still am in full shock. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic that the Marlins won, but I can’t help but be in disbelief that they did so in such a shocking manner.
How you make that throw in a circumstance like that while earning almost $2 million a year just baffles me. Man, I’m just in awe. Just astonished beyond words. There isn’t another way to put it.
It’s crazy, but well, I’ll take the credit for my city nevertheless.
