Heartland Tri-State Bank of Elkhart, Kansas, was declared insolvent by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on Friday.
The Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner seized the bank, and the FDIC was named as the receiver in a news release posted on the FDIC’s website.
The FDIC then collaborated with Syracuse, Kansas-based Dream First Bank, National Association to take over all of the deposits held by Heartland Tri-State Bank.
The FDIC declared that Dream First received all deposits from Heartland Bank, regardless of size.
According to the FDIC, First Republic, Silicon Valley Bank, and Signature Bank all failed earlier this year. Following the early-year collapse of the cryptocurrency market, a fifth bank, Silvergate, voluntarily dissolved.

As President Joe Biden was praising his success in combating inflation, another bank collapsed, according to the New York Post.
“Earlier this week, the Washington Post suggested Republicans may have to find something else to criticize me for now that inflation is coming down,” Biden said.
“Maybe they’ll decide to impeach me because it’s coming down,” he said, later adding, “I’d love that one.”
Gas prices were once more on the rise as Biden was doing a victory lap.

The nationwide average price of a gallon of unleaded fuel increased 13 cents in the previous week, according to AAA.
“Gas demand, meaning people fueling up, remains tepid. It’s lower now than at this time last year and in 2021,” Andrew Gross, a representative of AAA, said.
“But while the heat may be keeping some folks home, it also suppresses refinery production, according to experts. Constrained supplies and a higher cost of oil are tipping the balance toward rising pump prices for now,” he said.
According to AAA, California had the highest average gas price, at $4.93 per gallon.
The FDIC stated in its statement that the acquisition of Heartland by Dream First will cost the Federal Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF) $54.2 million, but that the plan it approved was the least expensive choice for the fund.
The four locations of Heartland Tri-State Bank will reopen on Monday as usual, according to the FDIC notification, and Heartland customers can access their deposits over the weekend using ATMs or debit cards.
Heartland Tri-State Bank has about $130 million in total deposits as of March 31 and about $139 million in total assets.
