A cab driver in Sweden was discovered dead in the woods, and the name of the leading suspect adds to the gruesomeness of the case.
On March 26, an abandoned taxi belonging to a Middle Eastern taxi driver was discovered in the parking lot of the Hjälstaviken nature reserve in Stockholm, according to the Swedish website Fria Tider. The body of the missing cab driver was discovered hanging in a nature reserve on April 1.
This incident is troubling enough on its own, but authorities soon learned that it may have been a kind of vigilantism led by a 15-year-old girl, her boyfriend, and her brothers.
The dead taxi driver is accused of raping the then-14-year-old girl in February, and the girl and the four boys are now accused of murdering the taxi driver in retaliation.
The girl, according to the indictment, lured the taxi driver into the woods, where he was attacked by the boys, who had brought rope, and strangled and hanged him.
According to Fria Tider, the prosecutor in the case stated that the murder had, “the character of an execution.”
In addition, the police claim to have found text messages from the girl the day before the murder, in which she says that her boyfriend and her brothers were going to “meet [her] rapist” and take revenge.
The girl allegedly texted the taxi driver the night before the murder, urging him to buy vodka and meet her in an isolated area near the nature reserve.
The girl admits to enticing the driver into the woods but insists she only wanted him punished, not dead.
Everyone concerned is in a terrible predicament. If the allegations in the case are true, the girl’s life was devastated because she was raped, and she is now being charged as part of a vengeance murder. Not to mention that the cab driver was killed in this situation.
What the taxi driver reportedly did to this young child is heinous, and he should have been held accountable. However, what occurred was vigilantism rather than legitimate justice.
The cab driver would have received justice if he had been prosecuted in a court of law and sentenced to prison time.
Vigilantism may appear cool and appealing, especially when we contemplate characters like Batman and the Avengers, extra-legal actors who risk their lives to protect the innocent.
This is especially true given many communist administrations’ soft-on-crime stance, which forces regular citizens to take issues into their own hands in order to defend themselves.
But what happened in Sweden was an act of vengeance, not self-defense.
Justice must be served by the proper authorities, not by private citizens who have no power or cause to conduct such acts against anyone.
There will never be more lawlessness as a response to lawlessness.
Just looking at the news, the Swedes cannot trust their law enforcement, prosecutors, and courts to bring mu-slims to justice. That was most likely the only justice she could obtain. Similar to our two-tiered justice system in the United States!
