The most prominent anti-Semite in the United States Congress has now shown her hand.
Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a founding member of the far-left “squad” with a documented history of anti-Semitism that even fellow Democrats can’t deny, took to social media on Monday in a lengthy thread accusing Israel of a “war crime” for its plans to retaliate against the Hamas terrorist organization, which murdered hundreds of civilians in an attack on Saturday.
And she was set on fire for her troubles.
The 12-part thread featured considerable wringing of hands over the condition of Palestinians in Gaza, a group that was granted self-government after the Israeli occupation ended in 2005 and has since been a festering breeding ground for terrorism.
However, the most inflammatory elements were present:

“The Israeli Defense Minister has called Palestinians ‘human animals’ and promised to cut off all electricity, all food, and all fuel to civilians in Gaza,” Omar wrote.
“This is collective punishment, a war crime, and the U.S. should oppose any violations of international law if we truly support a rules-based international order.”
As any rational person would have predicted, this sparked a flood of criticism, with commenters dissecting the argument piece by piece.

In some ways, Omar’s reasoning was unsurprising. Omar, one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress (the other being the despicable Rashida Tlaib, who was also elected in 2018), has never hidden her anti-Semitism. In fact, it was the subject of a special resolution in Congress in 2019, which was tragically scaled down by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which at the time included Omar herself.
When Republicans seized control of the House this year, she was booted off the Foreign Affairs Committee.
The fact that it took her two days to complete was more notable than the content. A boilerplate statement issued Saturday purportedly condemning Hamas’ activities and urging for “de-escalation” mirrored the efforts of her fellow “squad” member Democrats.
But the real Ilhan came through on Monday. What surprised me the least was how misleading it was — or sought to be.
It’s written as if Israel is the aggressor here, assaulting an innocent Gaza Strip just because an army of terrorists crossed its border into Israel to wreak genocide on a scale not seen in the world since the Holocaust.
It’s important to note that Hamas isn’t just an underground gang operating in the safe haven of a sympathizer’s enclave. According to the Associated Press, it is the Gaza administration, which won legislative elections in 2006 and ousted the rival Palestinian faction Fatah in 2007. (That was the end of the elections. Islamists and democracy are uneasy bedfellows.)
The organization is dedicated to the annihilation of Israel, transforming the land into a 31-mile-long malignant tumor on Israel’s southern border.
What Hamas did on Saturday was not an isolated act of terrorism, as the world has come to expect from these Islamist butchers; it was a full-fledged act of war, and the Israeli cabinet responded on Sunday by declaring war on Hamas, the first time Israel has declared war since it was invaded by Syria and Egypt on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur in 1973.
What is happening in Israel right now is a state of war — a conflict that is likely to change the equation in the Middle East in the same way that 9/11 changed the equation in the US’s dealings with terrorist regimes for decades.
Omar concluded the thread with an almost comical request for the United States to “push for peace” in an area where only one party — Israel — wants it. The opposing side has demonstrated its desire for conflict, and it is getting it.

The reaction on social media demonstrated that many users saw right through Omar’s propaganda:
“Israel was just brutally attacked by terrorists, funded by Iran, and you want to cut off funding and military aid and equipment. You are out of your mind and unfit to serve in the House of Representatives,” wrote Republican Rep. Mike Lawler of New York. “This is why you were removed from the Foreign Affairs committee.”

Ilhan, there will be no negotiated peace.
That option is no longer on the table. Hamas decided that. Now they have to pay the price.

Omar and her fellow anti-Semites in the Democratic Party and on the American left are attempting to blame Israel for this.
But the “war crime” in this case was done by Hamas leaders and the killers who entered the field, mowing down men, women, and children — raping female prisoners and kidnapping hostages in anticipation of Israel’s inevitable, just reprisal.
On Monday, Omar revealed her cards. Minnesota voters have long since shown Hillary the door.
Hating Jews does not go quite as far as Omar and her colleagues on the left would like.
