These Pictures May Keep You From Eating At Chik-Fil-A Ever Again…

With the extreme scarcity of food in many parts of the world, it’s not surprising that a recent TikTok video enraged a number of people.

Over the course of its 75-year existence, Chick-fil-A has faced some severe storms and now, a hated TikTok video.

A video was recently uploaded to the site by an unnamed Chick-fil-A employee with the handle @jlucvss, in which it is demonstrated how many juicy, soft, and delectable chicken nuggets end up in the trash can each day.

The video is accompanied by the caption, What they do every night with the chicken nuggets at Chick-fil-A.”

Apparently, they go straight into the garbage, and that has some people upset that they’re not going to less fortunate people or, according to some commenters—that they don’t somehow find their way directly to them.

Although this isn’t the first time food waste has gained popularity on TikTok—you may recall the Dunkin’ video controversy about donuts thrown in the trash earlier in 2021—it raises the same issues of wastefulness and how our culture allows people to go hungry.

The short and straightforward video, which has had more than 7.7 million views since it was posted on the platform, shows a Chick-fil-A employee taking a metal container full of nuggets and putting them in the garbage while Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” is playing in the background.

The visceral visual of this perfectly good nuggz hitting the bottom of the barrel is hard to stomach.

A lot of people say that what the store does with their leftover food is at odds with their Christian values.

So far, the video has been seen over 7.8 million times.

Many took their time to share their thoughts, with one person felt that the TikTok video was uncovering a grave injustice. The amount of food we throw away and the amount of starving people there are just doesn’t sit right with me,” said one, punctuating the observation with, “It’s sad.”

“Can confirm,” an employee commented. “We used to throw out SO much chicken…”

Someone added, Give them out for free, wtf,”

Why not give it to the homeless?” One person asked.

Some of the comments are:

“Give them out for free. What the hell.”

“Jesus would not approve.”

“They think God is okay with this?”

Wait, I thought that at the end of the shift, the employees get to take the leftovers home.”

With one person suggested, “They should just let the employees take it home.”

Others, on the other hand, say that getting rid of the food which wasn’t sold that day is what restaurants are simply required to do.

“Chicken that sits too long cannot be given out to the homeless hours later. It will get them sick. It’s not a doughnut,” one person stated.

“It is illegal to give food to the homeless in foodservice. Any food leftover goes to the employees or the trash.”

“I just got my food handlers test. They’re doing it right.”

Some, however, argued that given how busy Chick-fil-A is and how frequently they cook fresh chicken, there was no chance that the chicken that was thrown would be cold.

“All of you are saying it goes bad. It was made shortly before closing. You guys think they make them in the morning and just keep them hot?”

Should they give the leftovers to those in need instead of throwing that much food in the trash?
