A former California beauty queen Meghan Alt, 27, arrested after admitting last Friday to sending sexually explicit images of an underage relative to a Marine in exchange for money and merchandise.
Meghan Alt, was crowned Mrs. Orange County in 2014, who was competed in the Mrs. California contest the same year. She is from the Southern California City of Irvine.
The former beauty queen was accused of lascivious conduct with a child.
In a plea deal with prosecutors, Alt pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and lewd acts with a child. Prosecutors dismissed two additional charges of lewd acts with a child.
According to people.com, Prosecutors have said that Alt took sexually explicit photos of a 4-year-old female relative. She later transferred those images with her cellphone; in return, she is receiving money and gifts.
Alt, who is a mother of three children, hid her awful actions from her husband, Police said.
The pornographic photos were taken between Jan. 1, 2015, and Oct. 7, 2015. One recipient was reportedly a Marine, which is how the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and, eventually, the police came to be involved.
While being interrogated, she confessed to “several allegations of production and electronic distribution of child pornography,” authorities said.
Detectives further alleged that Alt paid for online advertisements “which many times resulted in an exchange of sex for money, often occurring with her children present.”
According to nymag.com, at the time of her arrest, deputy special agent Mark Selby of Homeland Security Investigations said, “As this case underscores, the suspects in these cases come from all walks of life. The stereotype that such crimes are perpetrated exclusively by ‘dirty old men’ simply doesn’t apply.”
Alt was never formally charged with prostitution but she was sentenced to three years’ probation and 300 days in county jail.
In addition, she was ordered to perform 15 days of community service and will be required to undergo treatment for child abusers.
She has been ordered to report to the Orange County Jail on this Friday to complete her sentence.
