A QATARI prince’s ex-wife has been found dead after a reported drug overdose.
In the midst of an intense custody battle with her Qatari ex-husband, a 45-year-old former princess of Qatar was found lifeless in her Marbella residence. Kasia Gallanio, the deceased former princess, had accused her ex-husband, Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani, of molesting one of their three children during the custody case. Al Thani, a 73-year-old billionaire and uncle of the current Emir of Qatar, however, denied the allegations.
Al Thani, the eldest son of Qatar’s former Emir Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, presently holds the position of finance minister. Despite his denial of the molestation claims, Kasia remained steadfast in her accusations.
“We had some bad news last week which I was absolutely devastated about,” she lamented last month. “It was alleged in court that her father had touched her inappropriately, which is going to go into an investigation.”
The former princess, who led a glamorous life as a socialite and rubbed shoulders with celebrities, tragically passed away in her Spanish home. On a Sunday morning, she was found in bed, having reportedly overdosed on drugs. Kasia has previously attended the famous union of Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara in 2015.
Upon arriving at the scene, Spanish police found no evidence of physical assault or violence on Kasia’s body. Her youngest daughter, who had been unsuccessfully attempting to contact her mother from Paris for several days, eventually alerted the Spanish authorities. The doorman granted the officers entry to Kasia’s home, where they discovered her lifeless body in her bed around 8 am on Sunday.
In an interview with Women’s World, Kasia shared her perspective on life after marrying a Qatari prince.
“Two of my daughters are twins. They wanted to live with me, so he cut contact with them as a punishment,” she said. “It’s very sad because children need both parents. The little one is not allowed to talk to me, which makes me extremely sad because she gets a lot of material things from her father, so it’s almost like manipulation and blackmail. It’s like a part of my body is missing.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles to Polish parents, Kasia met Abdelaziz at the tender age of nineteen. The couple married in 2004. Following her untimely death, a close friend described Kasia as a “good person” who strongly opposed drugs and alcohol.
“I knew her very, very well and am devastated at the news. She was a very good person, and those who knew her loved her. She loved her daughters beyond belief and would never leave them. She was dead against drugs and was never an alcoholic,” Louis Spagnuolo told Olive Press, a publication for ex-pats in Spain.
