Trump’s Victory Makes Global Waves: Hamas Calls for Peace in Wake of Election

With the 2024 election over and Donald Trump now set to return to the White House, the reactions across the globe have been swift and telling. From allies to adversaries, people are watching closely to see what Trump’s second term will mean for the United States and for the world.

After four years of an unpredictable foreign policy under Biden, marked by unsettling events from Afghanistan to Ukraine and the Middle East, the re-establishment of Trump’s policies is already making waves.

The contrast between Biden’s foreign policy and Trump’s hardline stance couldn’t be clearer, and it’s resonating in unexpected ways. Trump has always made it clear that America’s allies will have his full support, while adversaries will face uncompromising resistance. Now, just days after the election, some major players on the world stage are reevaluating their next moves.

In fact, we’re already seeing a shift in tone from groups that might not want to see America’s renewed strength under Trump.

Hamas Surprises with Unexpected Call

While much of the world watched with bated breath as the election results poured in, few could have anticipated what came next. Just days after Trump’s victory, Hamas, the group that launched a horrific attack on Israel just over a year ago, is now asking for an end to hostilities. This unexpected move suggests that Trump’s firm stance is already causing shifts in behavior among even the most unlikely groups.

From Newsweek:
A senior Hamas official has called for an immediate end to Israel’s war against the group in the Gaza Strip and a plan to achieve Palestinian statehood in remarks shared with Newsweek in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s election victory.

Trump’s return seems to be a game-changer, signaling a shift in the power dynamics that has Hamas calling for a different approach. During Biden’s term, weak policies and lack of decisive action left Israel and our allies vulnerable to aggression from groups like Hamas and countries like Iran.

And what an embarrassment for Biden and Kamala Harris! They kept telling us they just have to sit down and negotiate, but they were so weak, Hamas would never agree to terms. With Trump in office, though, the message is clear: the United States will be taking a hard-line stance to support its allies and maintain order.

A Contrast of Foreign Policies

Trump’s approach to international affairs couldn’t be more different from the Biden-Harris administration. Under Biden, U.S. influence weakened in ways we hadn’t seen in years. The world witnessed the catastrophic pullout from Afghanistan, which left allies questioning America’s commitment to peace and stability. Then came the escalation in Ukraine, and finally, Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel—events that could very well be linked to Biden’s unwillingness to project strength.

For Trump, however, peace through strength is a well-known motto. His first term brought groundbreaking peace deals, including the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab countries. Trump understood the delicate balance in the Middle East, and his steady hand kept extremist factions in check. It’s no wonder that in the face of Trump’s re-election, Hamas is suddenly talking about peace.

The Impact on U.S.-Israel Relations

Throughout his previous term, Trump was a staunch supporter of Israel, standing firmly against any threat to its sovereignty. From recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital to brokering deals that isolated Iran, Trump’s leadership strengthened our alliance with Israel in ways that have left a lasting legacy. With Hamas’s recent call for a ceasefire, it’s evident that even those who oppose Israel’s right to exist are reconsidering their stance, perhaps out of fear of what Trump’s foreign policy will mean for their future.

More from Newsweek:
“The election of Trump as the 47th president of the USA is a private matter for the Americans, but Palestinians look forward to an immediate cessation of the aggression against our people, especially in Gaza, and look for assistance in achieving their legitimate rights of freedom, independence, and the establishment of their independent self-sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital,” said Basem Naim, a Hamas spokesperson.

A Strong Message to the World

Trump’s election victory is sending a resounding message worldwide: the United States is no longer playing games. While some leaders and groups may have enjoyed the more lenient approach during the Biden-Harris years, it’s back to business with Trump. And, apparently, groups like Hamas are already feeling the heat.

With Hamas now calling for a halt to conflict, it’s a testament to Trump’s ability to influence global affairs, even before he takes office. America is once again a formidable force under Trump’s leadership, and adversaries are making quick moves to avoid confrontation.
