The city of Los Angeles just lost a grant from the DOJ for $3 million dollars. They were not given a reason why their request was denied but it should be obvious to everyone it’s because of their sanctuary city status. President Trump and AG Sessions have both warned sanctuary cities that they risk losing money from the federal government over their illegal sanctuary city policies. If the city of LA wishes to protect illegal aliens who commit crimes, then they must be prepared to pay the price. And if the citizens living in LA are OK with illegals who are free to commit violent crimes against them without recourse, then they should gladly pay higher taxes to support that cause.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell has said he’s afraid of losing $132 Million over the next three years because of his county’s harboring of illegal aliens:
On Thursday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent letters to four cities — including two in California — threatening to deny federal crime-fighting aid if the cities don’t step up efforts to help detain and deport people living in the country illegally.
The targeted cities — which have all struggled with crime — are Stockton, San Bernardino, Baltimore and Albuquerque, New Mexico. All expressed interest in the Justice Department’s new Public Safety Partnership, federal officials said. The program provides assistance from federal agents, analysts and technology to find solutions to crime.
While the Justice Department did not call out any communities in L.A. County in its latest move to punish so-called sanctuary cities, McDonnell has said the county’s limited cooperation with federal immigration officers strikes a necessary balance between public safety and public trust.
Public trust, now that’s an interesting phrase. Whose trust would they lose by enforcing immigration law? Illegal aliens, of course. Now, illegals make up just 3.5% of the population in America. What about the public trust of the 96.5% of legal residents, mostly citizens of the United States? Look no further than San Francisco. They released a criminal after taking him from federal incarceration for a crime they knew was passed the statute of limitations and then put him back on the street, where he was able to kill Katie Steinle. Shouldn’t the public be able to trust their elected and non elected officials not to put their lives in danger from illegal aliens? Yet, LA doesn’t consider that a matter of trust.
Another thing you need to know is that Los Angeles County plans to spend $132 million dollars over the next three years, $105 million the want the federal taxpayers to fork over to them. Why? Suppose I agree to dig a ditch for you. You agree to pay me $50 dollars a day and I work for two days and collect $100 dollars. On the third and fourth days, I don’t do any digging and I ask you for my $100. Would you pay me? I have my doubts about that.
Los Angeles mayor, Eric Garcetti said:
“We will defend any undocumented worker who’s going to be deported,” he said flatly in a recent interview. The words are backed up in deed: In December, Los Angeles unveiled an ambitious $10-million fund to provide legal counsel to residents facing deportation.
Los Angeles and Orange counties, after all, are home to 1 million undocumented immigrants, or nearly 10% of all undocumented immigrants nationwide. Los Angeles is also one of the major cities that has been targeted by ICE raids in the aftermath of the election.
Now, why would ICE target Los Angeles for raids? Years ago, infamous bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks. He simply replied “That’s where the money is.” If you drop a twenty dollar bill on Fifth Street, you don’t look for it on Elm street because the lighting is better do you? If you do, it’s a safe bet you are a liberal.
Crimes committed by illegal aliens increase over and over again because nothing is done to curtail their activities in sanctuary cities.
Let’s not stop at withholding money for law enforcement. How about education? Think about this for a moment. In 2017, the federal Department of Education received $69.4 billion dollars from the taxpayers. But, when it comes to education, the liberals set aside the needs of it’s citizens in order to appease Teacher Unions that are the second biggest funding group the Democrats have. Blacks in this country are underserved, especially in the inner cities where poverty is rampant, because of the rules these unions set down.
Teachers get to pick their schools based on seniority. Because of that rule, inner city schools end up with the least experienced teachers possible. What percentage of these teachers choose to work inner city schools, rather than rich suburban schools? There are two ways that inner city blacks can escape poverty. One of them is education and the second is drugs. But because of the rules set down by the unions, blacks face educational discrimination.
Let’s stop paying schools who fail to educate our black citizens. They deserve a shot at the American Dream.
