On Twitter, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is warning everyone not to laugh at her. You must not dare.
The rapidly expanding Twitter account Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody), whose satirical goal is stated in parentheses, appears to have touched a sensitive nerve in the New York lawmaker.
On Twitter, Ocasio-Cortez mentioned the parody account, alerted her followers to it, and said, “I am assessing with my team how to move forward.”

FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility.
It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread.

Has a threat ever appeared more thinly veiled?
In America many of us remember, there were only two possible ways to “move forward”: 1) laugh at yourself, and/or 2) stop doing things that make other people want to mock you.
The spoof account mocks Ocasio-Cortez’s apparent lack of pertinent knowledge, which may be attributable in part to what some may consider to be her overwhelming desire to be a woke superstar. For instance, a tweet that has been pinned says, “Printing money is the only way out of inflation.”

On every media outlet, the First Amendment is under attack, which is a threat to every conservative. When she praised the “deplatforming” of Tucker Carlson, Ocasio-Cortez inadvertently emerged as the happy face of the new censorship regime.

The use of comedy as a soother for the deepest wounds while dealing with memories of history’s most horrific regimes has proven effective for some. Who can forget The Producers, the film that director Mel Brooks, a Jew who was born in Poland and Ukraine, created?

Tyranny invites such ridicule. However, citizens only retain comedy as a release for their anger at the powerful’s never-ending foolishness in free societies.
The unfunny namesake of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody) has taken offense. How really free we are should be put to the test by whether that rage amounts to anything more than veiled threats.
