President Joe Biden’s immigration crisis is striking a fresh chord.
Of all, the protracted, national nightmare has been unfolding for border state people since before Biden assumed office. Recently, Democratic-controlled cities such as New York and Chicago have felt the pinch.
Now, wealthy residences in formerly safe neighborhoods are getting a taste of the action. One risky piece of technology is also involved.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard says a newly-created task force called the Southeast Michigan Collaborate Arrest and Prosecute is launching to finally put an end to the crimes that are raising concerns among homeowners.

According to WXYZ-TV, law enforcement organizations in the Detroit area have organized a task force to crack down on a sophisticated group of thieves who have been targeting high-end houses around the country, particularly in Oakland County, Michigan.
Oakland County, in the southeast portion of the state, just north of Detroit’s Wayne County, has been the site of high-profile home robberies by a suspected international crime organization with members primarily from the South American country of Chile.
The group’s use of jamming devices to disable security systems and cellular phone communications in target residences makes it extremely dangerous.
During a news conference on Wednesday, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bruchard shared a security video showing a robbery group storming into a house. One of the men behind the intruder is carrying a jamming device, which is studded with antennae to muffle alarm signals.
At the news conference, according to WXYZ, Bouchard attributed the presence of the thieves in the U.S.—highly trained, highly organized, and highly dangerous—to two facets of immigration. One is legal—the Visa Waiver Program. The other, well, isn’t.
“They’re coming into America by two different paths,” Bouchard said. “The VWP program — the Visa Waiver Program — or illegally crosses at the border.”
Bouchard, a Republican, noted that he wasn’t taking a stance on immigration, but that one problem of illegal immigration is obvious.
“We want anybody to have a better life,” he said. “But people that are coming to make victims in our country? That’s where we’re focused on.”
Jamming devices can disrupt more than just alarm systems.
Because they restrict Wi-Fi in a specific region, they can also disable cell phone service in that area.
According to WXYZ, Bouchard advised citizens to have a backup mode of communication that does not rely on Wi-Fi and to contact law enforcement if Wi-Fi is disabled and they cannot discover the source.
Granted, highly trained, transnational gangs of sophisticated home burglars aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Biden’s immigration invasion, as opposed to sex traffickers, drug cartels, and potential terrorists, but the Michigan experience shows that it’s a part of it.
And it’s a piece of it that’s all too likely to hit home, with a jammer playing a deadly role.
That is a terrifying fact that Americans will have to adjust to.
