A duo by the name of Nicholls and Curtis were diving off Australia’s Gold Coast in search of sea turtles, when a pair of humpback whales showed up and played with them in the water for over two hours!
According to Daily Star Sunday, both Nicholls and Curtis work for whale watching companies and have years of experience being around whales and other marine life. But they have never had a close encounter quite like this one before.
“In 10 years I have never seen this type of behaviour for whales with a boat, let alone with us in the water,” said Nicholls.
“Their movements were so gentle and so slow, almost like they were like ‘Oh, I don’t want to hurt my new friends’,” remarked Curtis. “We kept getting out of the water and they would be coming up to the boat and spyhopping as if to say, ‘Where’d you go? What are you doing? Come back and play.'”
