“Islamist beheadings are a wake-up call for all peoples, especially for us Americans,” gun rights expert John M. Snyder said here today.
“The murderous, barbaric, and savage actions of the Islamic State (IS) and other Islamist entities reveal the true nature of these groups and their members,” Snyder said.
“Their activities reflect the wretchedness of their thinking,” he continued.
He said, “The ongoing terrorist activity shows the need for self-defense. Islamists target Americans. Officials say they’re here. Congressional sources who warn us about the Islamist threat include Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the chairmen respectively of the House and Senate Select Committees on Intelligence.”
“We need personal firearms for self-defense against potential terrorist attacks,” Snyder said. “Proposals for different kinds of gun control pale in comparison with this need.”
“Whether they realize it or not, anti-gunners in politics, business, media, entertainment and academe work against the safety of Americans who need firearms for self-defense.”
Snyder said, “This includes unfortunately some of the most monetarily successful members of our society. Their billionaire bucks undermine self-defense civil rights.
“This means people like Mike Bloomberg, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. With huge financial contributions to gun-grabbing causes, they spend money to destroy freedom.”
“Gun-grabbing money is money foolishly spent,” said Snyder. “Studies have shown the futility of gun control initiatives as crime control measures. In the latest analysis, Mark Gius of Quinnipiac University’s Department of Economics has found that between 1980 and 2009, ‘states with more restrictive CCW laws had gun-related murder rates that were 10% higher’ than those of other states. What this means is that the gun-related murder rates were lower in states where it was easier to obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm, to obtain a concealed carry weapon (CCW) permit, than in other states.
“Gius also found that state ‘murder rates were 19.3% higher when the Federal (assault weapon and large magazine) ban was in effect.’ As NRA-ILA noted, ‘the bans went into effect in September 1994 and expired in September 2004. During the 10 years 1995-2004, the average annual murder rare was 6.2 per 100,000 population. From 2005 to 2012, however, the average rate has been 16 percent lower, at 5.2 per 100,000.’”
“America needs gun rights,” said Snyder, “now more than ever, for life and freedom.”
